It's important to note that the majority of our staff are enthusiastic and friendly volunteers. We have a diverse community of individuals and are keen to recruit as many people as possible. If you are interested in joining our family of volunteers, please contact us for a simple application pack.
In order to ensure the smooth running of the shop, café and all outreach projects, in addition to our volunteers we have two permanent staff members.
Manager and Outreach Coordinator
Janet has been Manager from Day One; she was appointed in 2015 to open the centre. As a former operating theatre sister, she's well organised and meticulous about food hygiene.
Janet was born and raised in a Christian household and her strong faith has remained with her throughout life. She is no stranger to community outreach, having run a number of projects for her previous churches' communities.
Supervisor and Outreach Worker
Tracey joined us in January 2018 to support Janet and further promote the Bridge Centre's mission. Her many years of catering experience and her level-headed approach is vital to the day-to-day running of the shop and café.
Tracey's Christian faith enhances her daily interactions and is obvious to all who meet her.
Marcianne Uwimana is the new probationer deacon at Smithy Bridge Methodist Church, along with two other churches in the Rochdale and Littleborough Methodist circuit.
Marcianne was born in Rwanda but has lived in the UK for 20 years. She has worked as a Community Development worker, a freelance researcher for several universities, third sector organisations and charities. She is passionate about sharing her Christian faith with everyone she meets as well as social justice, equality and fairness and has been sent by The Methodist Church to this Circuit
Marcianne also has lots of interests such as knitting, cooking, gardening, walking and country music.
If you find yourself in a position where you would like to talk to someone or would like prayer, Marcianne
can be contacted through the Bridge Centre.
